UP FROM THE ASHES Women’s Empowerment Academy (UFTA) was founded in 2012 under the leadership of Pastor Karen Jethroe. She noticed that there were so many Christian women who have been called by God to lead in ministry and in life but have been held back due to fear, religious oppression, life’s traumas, or lack of exposure. It became Pastor Karen’s passion to help women become free and to unapologetically say yes to God’s call on their life.

Karen Jethroe serves as Senior Pastor of Kingdom Life Christian Ministries in Belleville, IL, Founder of Up From the Ashes Women's Empowerment Academy, Overseer for Deliverance Church in Malawi, South Africa and Owner of Kingdom Purpose Productions, LLC. She enjoys life with her husband Dennis, their four adult children, eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She has an earned Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College and a Master's Degree in Communication from Lindenwood University.
