22 because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice, 23 they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it. 24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
Are you courageous enough to be different or do you find it much easier to just go with the crowd? It takes a lot of courage to be different. You open yourself up to ridicule and rejection. It may even cause you to experience self-doubt. It's amazing how many people don't mind hanging out with you or supporting you as long as you are playing it safe. As long as you are not pushing the envelope or challenging the system it is pretty safe to assume that you will not be alone. But this kind of life is not what God has called us to. He made each and everyone of us with something unique about us so that it can be used to make a difference in our place of assignment.
The late Dr. Myles Munroe spent the bulk of his ministry teaching us about living in purpose and living on purpose. Why? Because he wanted us to die empty. He wanted us to know that God placed different gifts and abilities in us to use in this earth realm for the expansion of His Kingdom and so that we would live a life of fulfillment and not drudgery. If you are not enjoying your Christian life right now could it be because you are afaid to be different? Are you afraid to take that leap of faith stepping over into your promise land because no one else sees what you see? Or better yet, because no one else sees it the way that you see it?
This was the case with Caleb! He had to make a decision whether to go along with the ones who had experienced the glory of God but still did not believe God and remain stuck in the wilderness. Or would he continue to follow God fully so that he could live the life God had planned for him? Our text tells us that because Caleb had a "different" spirit God blessed him to live a "different" kind of life than those who would not heed the voice of the Lord. Who do you know is living the kind of life that you always desired to live?
Let me tell you today that there is a better life for you to live. There is a better place for you to be that is filled with everything that you could ever imagine to make your life full and rich and happy. But there is only one way to get there. You must take on the spirit of Caleb. You must decide that you are going to dare to be different regardless to what it may cost you. Yes, you may lose some friends. You will have to step out of your comfort zone. You will have to do some things that you have never done before to get what you have never had before. But if you are obey God; if you fully heed to the voice of the Lord, you will get there. The blessing is waiting for you!!!
