Where Did Your Feet Land in 2021?

Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful on the mountains

are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,

the good news of peace and salvation,

the news that the God of Israel[a] reigns!

Hello Everyone!

Yes, it has been a while since I have written to you. Like most of you, 2021 has been some kind of year! Most of us probably lack the vocabulary to adequately describe it. We have experienced losses, gains, joys, as well as sadness. There have been pleasant surprises and unfathomable disappointments. I can’t count the many times this year that I have received news that literally shook and shocked me.

When I woke up this morning my mind was reeling over two particular events that happened in my family this year. Both events were unexpected and truthfully unwelcomed. Both events brought with them uninvited life-changing moments that we are still adjusting to. Both events contained pain and sorrow sprinkled with elements of joyful memories.

As I was reflecting on these moments and other events of 2021 that have been so challenging to our faith, I heard Holy Spirit ask me this question. “In spite of all that you have been through, where have your feet landed in 2021?”

OMG!!! I love the way He shifted my focus so quickly with one simple question.

The first thing I realized was that I am still standing!! On every promise that He has made, nothing happened in 2021 that changed or annulled it!!

I also realized that out of everything that my family, my church, and this nation have gone through in 2021, what didn’t happen is found in our text today…How beautiful on the mountains

are the feet of the messenger who brings good news,

the good news of peace and salvation,

the news that the God of Israel[a] reigns! (Isaiah 52:7)

I am still preaching the gospel and reaching those who need to hear the good news of peace and salvation!

I am still convinced that the God of Israel reigns! He is still in control!

My feet landed where my faith abides!!! It is in the sovereign, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God!!!!

Rejoice with me in knowing that nothing takes Him by surprise and nothing comes to us without going past Him first!

I don’t know how 2021 served you this year.

I don’t know what your losses were.

I only know that if you are reading this then you survived it!

You landed on your feet!!!

How did you do that? By having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15)

How did you do that? By keeping it moving. How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” (Romans 10:15)

How did you do it? By stepping into your assigned place! So Moses swore on that day saying, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the Lord, my God, fully.’ (Joshua 14:9)

I pronounce the blessings of the Lord over you who have landed on your feet in 2021!

I pray that your faith increases immeasurably. I pray that God’s favor surrounds and surprises you in ways that you never expected.

I pray peace is your portion in every area of your life.

I pray for you wisdom beyond your years, knowledge beyond your education, and grace for all your shortcomings.

There’s greater coming for us in 2022 because the God of Israel still reigns!!!
